About the Ledger

What the Ledger is

The Conservative Ledger is a documented public record of conservative candidates and the races they run in. We profile the candidate’s biography, public service, record, family and community, mission and priorities — and the fuller record, including the parts a campaign would rather not discuss — with a numbered source under every claim.

We are written from a conservative perspective and we say so. Perspective is not a license to be wrong: a number that cannot be traced to a document is not published, a quotation that cannot be found at its source is not published, and a campaign claim is labelled as a campaign claim.

Our beat is elections. We follow the money that is actually reported, the ballots that are actually counted, the polls that are actually released, and the county-by-county mechanics of how a race is won — because that is where a reader can check us.

Standards

Measured only. Every figure is read from a fetched document — a canvass, a filing, a roll call, a court opinion, a census table, a pollster’s own release. We do not estimate, forecast, simulate or fill from memory. Where a number is arithmetic on measured inputs, the arithmetic is printed.

Every claim carries its source. Sources are numbered, linked and dated. Government records, campaign material, advocacy scorecards and press reporting are labelled as what they are and never mixed.

Record and proposal are kept apart. What a candidate has done is marked as record; what a candidate says they will do is marked as a campaign proposal; a documented statement of position is marked as such.

Both languages, the same day. English and Spanish editions are built from the same content with the same sources. Quotations are translated with the original left at the linked source; document titles are not translated.

No unnamed sources. The Ledger publishes documents, not tips. If it is not in a document we can link, it is not on the page.

What we will not do. No invented quotations, no doorway pages, no cloaking or keyword stuffing, no editing of shared reference works to advantage a candidate, nothing built to be mistaken for a candidate’s own material. Discrepancies we find in public records are reported openly for a person to fix, with sources.

Masthead

Editor: Dr. Atlas. This is a pen name, used consistently across the Ledger and its accounts. The editor is known to and accountable to the publisher for every line published under it, and answers correspondence personally.

Research: two independent automated research passes over primary sources for every profile, followed by editorial review; the tooling is described in the methods section of each profile, and the full data pack behind each edition is published for download.

Ownership, funding and independence

Ownership. The Conservative Ledger is published by Atlas Authority Politics, an independent, privately held analytics and publishing venture. It is not owned or operated by any candidate, campaign, political party or political committee.

Editorial control. No candidate, campaign, party or committee reviews, approves or directs what the Ledger publishes. Candidates are not shown pages before publication. Our profiles are not produced by or for the candidates they describe.

Funding. The Ledger is funded by its publisher. It carries no advertising. If the Ledger ever accepts payment from a candidate, campaign, political party or political committee, this page will say so and name the payer, and the affected pages will carry the disclosure required by law.

Distribution. We do not pay to boost, promote or advertise our coverage of candidates. If any paid distribution is ever used, the item will be labelled as paid, with the payer named, and this page will say so.

Corrections

We correct errors of fact promptly and visibly. A corrected page carries a dated correction note at the top stating what was wrong and what was changed; the correction is made in both language editions on the same day; and material corrections are listed on this page.

To report an error, write to the editorial address in the Contact section with the page URL, the sentence in question and the document that shows it to be wrong. We answer every correction request.
